Articular Strength & Natural Movement

Articular Strength & ‘Primal’ Movement

With articular and primal/natural movement strength training, you will build practical strength with minimal equipment. Using classic bodyweight movements and isometric variations, you’ll work towards moving with confidence and bypassing injury. Perfect for beginners, intermediates, and advanced movers…this is a pre-requisite to all other training. It assures that your joints work well and are safeguarded. Expect to learn how to control yourself and your body! Lessons cover:

Mobility Development

Mobility refers to the amount of active, usable motion that one possesses. The more mobile a person is, the more they are able to maximize their movement potential safely, efficiently, and effectively. Homework will be assigned to better develop your ‘joint centration’ capabilities.

Joint Strength

While improving mobility and movement potential, these sessions also acts to ‘bullet proof’ (or safe-guard) your joints so that movement can be executed safely. You’ll be taught Passive Angular Isometric Loading, Regressive Angular Isometric Loading (PAILs & RAILs), joint hovers, and CARs- or Controlled Articular Rotations. By strengthening your ‘neural drive’ when moving, you teach your muscles to do their job when responding to motion! More joint and muscular movement = less joint pain!

Body Control

Training with specific techniques will improve the function of your nervous system. This leads to a reduction of pain and injury, joint health and longevity as well as an increased ability to move freely and easily.

Excellent for someone who sees beyond the technicalities of each movement pursuit or discipline. Great for movers who find interest in their anatomy and wish to understand the body, health, performance and physical artistic expression further.

Primal / Natural Movement

Learn how to move in all directions, all planes of motion, and regain range of motion in all major joints. I use natural animal movements, martial arts, and human locomotion exercises to make lazy muscles turn on. Sessions also cover gentle somatic exercises to help shut down overactive muscles so that we can become more fluid in our bodies and movements. Perfect for people interested in moving creatively or getting ‘unstuck’.

With natural/primal patterning exercise formats we learn about neurogenesis and kinetic sequencing. Neurogenesis is the growth of nervous tissue where it previously was undeveloped or inhibited. Kinetic sequencing is understanding patterns across major kinetic chains. Basically we work on rewiring the brain for movement focusing on proprioceptive awareness and how to engage the body. The time put into this type of work involves exploring the limits and limitations within your unique architecture. I take athletes through dynamic flexibility and mobility sequences that act as information for where the athlete needs to improve. Wonderful for bringing people 360 to where they are with their body.
