Fitness Knows No Age

General strength training is crucial for aging adults. As we get older our bodies begin to break down. Lean muscle mass and bone density decreases, and range of motion in the joints is reduced. It is my understanding that this is the beginning of a slippery slope towards sickness. The baby-boomer generation is specifically at risk due to increased work and time demands that produce stress and strain on the body.

When working with middle-aged and older adults my goal is to rejuvenate; I focus on teaching people how to sit, stand, lunge, crawl, and walk more efficiently while improving muscular strength, overall stamina, and joint flexibility. The training I do helps my clients complete tasks in daily life like picking things up and putting things down with greater safety and ease. In our sessions I will work closely with you to harness movements that leave you feeling supported in your own body. My hope is to help you understand safe movement and teach you to mindfully do so in a way that allows you to enjoy life’s activities and feel more youthful as you grow older.

I offer services for middle-aged and older adults in a 1-to-1 or small group setting. Concepts we cover include:

  • Pliability in the muscles and joints, how we develop it
  • Pelvic floor health, how to connect your breathing to sustainable core strength
  • Gain better control of your joints, understanding your joints
  • Aging and lifting weights, why we need strong bones
  • Postural awareness and balance, where is your center of gravity?
  • Single-leg movements, locomotive patterns, and how to feel confident
  • How to improve your resistance to injury
  • The process of maximizing your body’s active mobility

Your initial assessment is free! Schedule a time for us to sit down and get to know each other. I’ll learn about your needs and goals, and you’ll learn about my philosophy and qualifications as they specifically relate to you.
